Montipora-Corals

Montipora-Corals (or "Montis") belong to the small polyp corals (SPS-corals). Due to their many forms and color morphs, they're loved by aquarists around the world. You can find them in bright red, green, or pink colors. Even bi- or tricolored Montis are no rarity.

How fast do Montipora corals grow?

That depends on the species and the conditions inside your reef tank. Generally speaking, plate-like growing or branched-out Montipora grow much fast than crusty Montipora.

What does the Monti want?

The needs of the Montipora are similar to the Acropora, however, Montis are far less sensitive. Strong lighting and a moderate water flow keep the coral happy. Keep in mind, that plate-like growing corals can cast shadows so don't place any corals that need much light underneath them. Montipora corals don't nettle strongly so you can place various Montipora-specimens next to each other.
