Functionality of biopolymers

Biopolymers are long-chain molecules that are able to bind other substances such as nutrients. These substances are only released again after the biopolymers have been degraded. Since the polymers can almost exclusively be digested by symbiotic bacteria in corals, sponges and other filters, the nutrients end up exactly where they are needed.

Reef Actif - tips for application

Reef Actif is ideal for aquariums with increased nutrient levels. We advise not to use Reef Actif in aquariums that are already nutrient-limited (phosphate and nitrate not detectable). When using Reef Actif, increase the dosage gradually at the beginning: start the first week with 1/3 of the recommended dosage, increase to 2/3 in week 2 and continue dosing normally from week 3 onwards. Tropic Marin recommends a weekly dosage of 1 to maximum 3 measuring spoons per 500 litres of aquarium water. We use Reef Actif ourselves in our facility and have made good experience in dividing the weekly ration into daily doses. To do this you can simply prepare the Reef Actif in salt water in a cup as a solution and store it in the refrigerator for about a week.
