Clavularia tricolor - Corals for beginners in the reef hobby

In contrast to stony corals, clove polyps do not form a solid skeleton of calcium carbonate. They are therefore more tolerant of fluctuations in calcium concentration and alkalinity. Clove polyps are perfect candidates for beginners in the reef hobby as well as for tank owners who do not (want) pay meticulous attention to their water parameters.

Increased nutrient values? No problem for clove polyps!

Clove polyps cope well with increased nutrient concentrations. Phosphate concentrations of up to 0.2 mg/l and nitrate concentrations of up to 20 mg/l are regarded as quite acceptable. They are therefore ideal for a new set up or small reef aquarium. Please note that colorful clove polyps can temporarily lose their intense colors if the nutrient levels are high.
