Note on odour
Tetraselmis naturally has a very intense odour. This is due to natural sulphur compounds such as dimethyl sulphide (DMS) and trimethylamine (TMA), which are also found in other marine microalgae.
Important: The product is not perished as a result - the best-before date is indicated on the bottle. A strong odour is completely normal with Tetraselmis and is even an indication of high freshness and cell activity.
Use and dosage of Tetraselmis concentrate
Shake the bottle well before use. Just 0.5 ml per 100 litres of tank volume is sufficient for the daily care of your reef inhabitants. A dosing pipette is included with the bottle.
The time of addition is flexible: Dosing in the morning at the start of the lighting can help to bind excess nutrients. Adding in the evening before the dark phase is particularly beneficial for nocturnally active filter feeders and corals.
You can switch off skimmers, UV, ozone or fleece filters briefly after dosing so that the plankton remains in the water for longer - however, this is not necessary as many filters run in bypass mode and only process part of the water at a time.
A particular advantage of Tetraselmis is that the microalgae has proven antibacterial properties. Studies show that it can inhibit the growth of aquatic pathogens such as Vibrio and Aeromonas. Regular addition therefore actively contributes to the stabilisation of your aquarium system - especially in tanks with sensitive inhabitants or with an increased bacterial load.
Coral Guardian
By purchasing our own brand products, you support reef protection in Indonesia and the Mediterranean.
By building an own brand, one can generally generate higher margins. We pass on a portion of our sales to the non-profit environmental protection organization Coral Guardian. Because as reef hobbiests and divers, protecting the oceans is particularly important to us. This contribution is not intended to be greenwashing, but is simply a way of promoting and supporting environmental projects that would otherwise have difficulty obtaining the necessary financial resources.
