Tropic Marin Elimi-Phos Rapid

Tropic Marin Elimi-Phos Rapid contains lanthanum in liquid form. When added to the aquarium, phosphates are bound and precipitated as water-insoluble lanthanum phosphate. Elevated phosphate levels can thus be noticeably reduced.

Important points for use:

• Addition before or in the skimmer or before the flow filter to remove flocculated phosphates
• During use, check the KH more frequently and adjust if necessary
• particularly useful for reducing very high phosphate levels

Signs of high nutrient levels

In addition to the measured phosphate and nitrate values, darkened corals or increased algae growth in the tank and on the panes indicate that nutrient values ​​are too high. When assessing "too high", the ratio of nitrate to phosphate must also be taken into account. This should ideally be 100:1, for example 5 mg/l nitrate and 0.05 mg/l phosphate. An unfavorable ratio can often have a more negative effect than increased values ​​in the correct ratio. Therefore, always assess the nutrient values ​​in relation to one another and in connection with the appearance and behavior of your animals in the aquarium.

Recommended use of Elimi-Phos Rapid

Even if your phosphate level is extremely high, do not lower it by more than 0.1 mg/l per day. Too rapid changes could otherwise do more harm than good to your corals. 10 ml of Elimi-Phos Rapid precipitates 1 mg/l of phosphate per 100 liters of aquarium water. Therefore, dose a maximum of 1 ml of the solution per 100 liters. Always add Elimi-Phos Rapid before or in the skimmer or before the flow filter so that the precipitated lanthanum phosphate is completely removed from your aquarium. The KH value can drop more during use and should be checked more frequently. From a phosphate level of 0.1 mg/l, we recommend further reduction with a carbon dosage such as NP-Bacto-Balance.

Alternatively, a continuous low dosage of Elimi-Phos Rapid is also possible to stabilize the phosphate level. The solution can easily be diluted with osmosis water and added in low concentration via a dosing pump.

Avoid lowering your phosphate level to 0 mg/l. Phosphate levels between 0.03 mg/l and 0.08 mg/l are ideal for a reef tank.

Elimi-Phos Rapid against flatworms

A positive side effect of Elimi-Phos Rapid: many aquarists have found that the solution helps against flatworms of the genera Waminoa , Concolutriloba and possibly also Acropora flatworms. For this application, remember that 1. your phosphate level is increased so that it does not become limited, 2. you ensure a sufficient oxygen supply and 3. you suck out as many flatworms as possible in advance, as their death can release toxins (filtering with activated carbon is also useful in this case).
