Clavularia tricolor - corals for beginners in marine aquarium keeping
In contrast to stony corals, tube corals do not form a solid skeleton made of calcium carbonate. They are therefore more tolerant of fluctuations in calcium concentration and KH values. Tube corals are perfect candidates for both beginners in reef aquarium keeping and for aquarists who do not (want to) pay meticulous attention to their water values.
High nutrient values? No problem for tube corals!
Tube corals cope well with increased nutrient concentrations. Phosphate concentrations of up to 0.2 mg/l and nitrate concentrations of up to 20 mg/l are considered perfectly acceptable. They are therefore not only ideal for a newly set up or small reef aquarium, but also for keeping with fish. Note that colorful tube corals can temporarily lose their intense colors when nutrient levels are high.
