Gel-based coral glue - what is the difference to normal superglue?

Normal superglue is very liquid, runs quickly and is particularly unsuitable for attaching coral fragments underwater. Coral glue gel, on the other hand, is a cyanoacrylate paste. While the ingredients are identical, the coral glue is significantly thicker. The high consistency makes it easier to attach corals both inside and outside of the water.

How are coral fragments attached to the reef structure? - Tips for use

Many coral cuttings are shipped on small substrate stones. These usually have a "stem" which can be easily removed with pliers if it bothers you. Now you can more easily glue the coral into your reef structure. First, turn off the flow pumps. Then put a small glue ball on the underside of the cutting stone and carefully submerge the coral upside down (with the glue ball facing upwards) under water. The cyanoacrylate polymerizes when it comes into contact with water and now forms a thin outer layer, while the inside is still liquid. Now find the desired position in the reef and place the coral cutting there by briefly rubbing the cutting stone against the rock. The glue ball bursts and the liquid glue can now bond to the cutting stone and reef rock. Hold the coral pressed against the rock for a few seconds without moving until the glue has completely hardened. After another 5 minutes you can turn the flow pumps back on.
