More Information

Coral Clean removes stowaways such as flatworms and other parasites from new arrivals. In addition, a short bath disinfects mechanical injuries to corals (eg after fragmentation). Coral Clean thus prevents infections such as brown jelly or tissue decay (RTN, STN).

Tropic Marin Coral Clean - Recommended use

First, prepare 2 bathing containers (e.g. Tupperware containers or similar) with aquarium water. Mix 1 ml of Coral Clean into 100 ml of aquarium water in one of these containers. The second container serves as an intermediate bath to rinse off any iodine residue.

Now you can dip your new corals in the bathing container with Coral Clean for 10-15 minutes. Gently (!) swing the coral back and forth under water to shake off weakened parasites. After the dip, briefly transfer the coral to the intermediate bath to remove any iodine residue. The coral can then be attached to your desired location in the aquarium.

What else can I do to prevent parasites, pests and infections?

Many stowaways are not necessarily found on the coral itself, but rather on the offshoot stone, dead tissue or the substrate to which it is attached. Therefore, examine these stones and the underside of the coral carefully and remove any attached clutches or worms with a brush or small knife. In addition, stable and good water quality protects against outbreaks of infection, because well-fed and less stressed corals are generally more resistant to disease. Furthermore, the introduction of natural predators of typical pests such as Lysmata shrimp or dragonets prevents the uncontrolled proliferation of aiptasia, planarians, etc.
