More Information
We recommend the combined use with regular phytoplankton dosing to establish a stable copepod population in the tank.
Biological stability through zooplankton
The microfauna, consisting of amphipods, copepods & co, is an essential component in every ecosystem. From the puddle to the ocean: microorganisms perform important functions and form a nutritious basis in the food web. By adding zooplankton and phytoplankton together to the saltwater aquarium, you can very quickly build up a robust microfauna population and achieve biological stability.
Apocylops panamensis
Apocylops panamensis is rich in amino acids and proteins and is therefore a high-quality food source for your reef dwellers. Mandarin fish and pipefish in particular will love Apocyclops ! Compared to other copepod species, Apocyclops reproduces relatively quickly (approx. every 4-6 days). While the juvenile stages live mainly close to the ground and consume leftover food etc., the adult copepods live in the open water and are available as food not only for fish but also for corals.
