Mushroom leather coral in light green and polyps moving with the current.

We generally show the coral frags under different
light settings:

  • Top view blue light - 20,000 K
  • Top view daylight - 12,000 K
  • Reef tank shot without filter
  • Reef tank shot with orange filter (= filter shot)
  • Variation of frags
  • optional: picture of the broodstock

When taking a filter shot, we deliberately choose not to use too much blue light in order to display the colors as naturally as possible and as one would perceive them without filter glasses. Please note that deviations can still occur due to certain display and lighting settings and subjective perception.

In terms of size, you can use the light grid plate to help you: one square is 1.6 x 1.6 cm. Our frag plugs measure 2 or 3 cm in diameter.

Mushroom leather corals - corals for beginners in marine aquariums

Unlike stony corals, leather and soft corals do not form a solid skeleton made of calcium carbonate. They are therefore more tolerant of fluctuations in calcium concentration and KH values. Soft corals are perfect candidates for both beginners in reef aquarium keeping and for aquarists who do not (want to) pay meticulous attention to their water values.

Sarcophyton -Soft corals like current

The tentacles of the mushroom leather coral like it turbulent - a changing and sometimes strong current is ideal.

High nutrient values? No problem for soft corals!

Leather and soft corals cope well with increased nutrient concentrations. Phosphate concentrations of up to 0.2 mg/l and nitrate concentrations of up to 20 mg/l are considered perfectly acceptable. They are therefore not only ideal for a newly set up or small reef aquarium, but also for keeping with fish.
