LIVE ANIMAL EXPRESS SHIPPING

Not a representative of the Caribbean, but a species that occurs in the Indo-Pacific. Very easy to care for.

We generally show the coral frags under different
light settings:

  • Top view blue light - 20,000 K
  • Top view daylight - 12,000 K
  • Reef tank shot without filter
  • Reef tank shot with orange filter (= filter shot)
  • Variation of frags
  • optional: picture of the broodstock

When taking a filter shot, we deliberately choose not to use too much blue light in order to display the colors as naturally as possible and as one would perceive them without filter glasses. Please note that deviations can still occur due to certain display and lighting settings and subjective perception.

In terms of size, you can use the light grid plate to help you: one square is 1.6 x 1.6 cm. Our frag plugs measure 2 or 3 cm in diameter.

Gorgonians in the saltwater aquarium

Gorgonians are a favorite pet of some saltwater aquarists. Quite a few are particularly attracted to colorful and finely branched specimens. But be careful, such gorgonians are usually azooxanthellate species, i.e. gorgonians that do not have any symbiotic algae. They therefore depend on the regular addition of fine food such as plankton and are difficult to keep in the aquarium long-term. Gorgonians such as Eunicea , Pinnigorgia, Rumphella, Antillogorgia or Plexaura , on the other hand, are very robust pets. Thanks to the symbiotic algae that are found in their tissue, good lighting is sufficient for them as a food source. Nevertheless, they also benefit from occasional additional feeding in the form of fine dust food or plankton.

Keeping gorgonians

The current is the most important thing when keeping gorgonians. Choose a location in the aquarium with a strong and changing current. If the gorgonian does not open and does not show any polyps, this could be a sign of too little current. Increased nutrient levels are not normally a problem. A major enemy of gorgonians is filamentous algae. You should definitely avoid these.
