The bristle-tail filefish is a peaceful and useful saltwater fish. It swims leisurely through the aquarium and observes everything very closely with its large eyes. It is very popular among reef hobbiests as an aiptasia killer.

Acreichthys tomentosus - a saltwater fish for aquariums from 300 liters

With its calm nature and maximum size of 12 cm, the bristle-tail filefish is a perfect candidate for saltwater aquariums of 300 liters and more. It mostly stays close to the reef structure and is peaceful towards other tank inhabitants. The bristle-tail filefish can change its body color depending on its mood and environment - very interesting to observe!

Filefish vs. aiptasia and manjano

Acreichthys tomentosus is a good choice for controlling an aiptasia or manjano infestation in your aquarium. Keep in mind, however, that bristle-tail filefish are not 100% reef-safe. This means that there are occasionally individuals that can nibble on certain LPS species such as Acanthastrea, encrusting anemones, or xenia.
