Sea Salt for Reef Tanks

Preparing salt water - here´s how!

First of all you need osmosis water, which ideally comes from an osmosis plant with a downstream ultrapure water filter (mixed bed resin). Put as much water as you need into a bucket or similar. A small flow pump provides the necessary water movement in the container. Now weigh the sea salt and add it to the osmosis water. To achieve a density of 1.022 - 1.024 at 25°C, you need about 40 g Coralaxy sea salt per liter. Now you have to wait until the salt is completely dissolved. As soon as the water is completely clear, you can use it for filling or changing the water in your aquarium. Always check the salt content (e.g. hydrometer, refractometer) and adjust the temperature with a heater if necessary.
